It's that time of year where at every turn you see pumpkins. Did you know they aren't only good to get into the Halloween spirit, they're also great for your body both inside and out?
When carving out your latest creation to put on the doorstep, save the seeds and the pumpkin flesh – your skin will love you for it!
Pumpkins are full of protein and zinc. They help to fight the bacteria causing spots and acne. With vitamins C, E and K and beta-c (along with a host of other vitamins and minerals), pumpkin benefits the skin by giving it a bright appearance and healthy glow. The antioxidants found in pumpkins will protect the skin and help to fight free-radicals.
Eat the seeds raw or toasted, whatever you prefer. Rinse them to get rid of most of the flesh and strings attached. You can eat them as is or for extra flavour, toast them by adding a little oil, salt, chilli, honey – whatever you fancy and roast in the oven for half an hour. Packed with protein, they're perfect as a snack, with cereal or sprinkled on salads and soups.
Face Treat:
Blend the pumpkin flesh into a puree, add an egg, a tbsp apple cider vinegar and/or lemon juice and a couple of teaspoons of honey. Lie back, relax and leave to rest on your skin for around 15 mins. Rinse off with warm water and your skin will feel rejuvenated. This powerful mask feeds your skin from the outside, restoring your skin back to calm, reducing redness and helping to fight inflammation. Apply moisturiser as normal.
Treat + Hydrate = Happy Skin!
